Este post é sobre outro museu interessante em São Francisco, que é o SFMOMA, de arte moderna. Visitei o acervo permanente e a exposição que está em cartaz atualmente, chamada "From Calder to Warhol" em cartaz até o dia 19 de setembro. Abaixo estão as fotos que eu tirei pra vocês verem!

This post is about another interesting museum in San Francisco, called the SFMOMA, specialized in modern art. I visited the permanent collection and the exhibition called "From Calder to Warhol", which runs until september 19th. Here are some pictures I took for you to see!

Achei este mural da artista Penelope Umbrico muito interessante. O nome da obra é "5,377,183 Suns from Flickr" e reúne milhares de fotos de pôr-do-sol encontrados nos álbuns virtuais do website. O trabalho levanta a discussão sobre a relação do mundo virtual com as artes.

This mural by the artist Penelope Umbrico is very interesting. The name of the work is "5,377,183 Suns from Flickr" and gathers thousands of sunset pictures, found in virtual albums on the website. The work raises the issue of the relationship between the virtual world and the arts.

Girly Tea

Descobri este charmoso salão de chá chamado Crown & Crumpet andando pelo Ghirardelli Square em São Francisco. A loja parece ter saído de um conto de fadas, todos os mínimos detalhes foram pensados, desde a decoração, a louça, os rótulos, enfim, é de enlouquecer qualquer menina! O salão funciona para brunch, almoço e jantar, e conta com um cardápio cheio de deliciosos lanchinhos e vários tipos de chá para acompanhar. No anexo, uma lojinha vende objetos fofos, livros, xícaras, coisas da Cath Kidston, etc. O pessoal foi muito gentil e deixou fotografar a loja para poder compartilhar com vocês, aproveitem!

I discovered this charming tea room called Crown & Crumpet walking by Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco. The store seems to have stepped out of a fairy tale, every last detail has been thought of, from the decor, dishes, labels, everything is a delight to the eyes! The salon works for brunch, lunch and dinner and features a full menu of delicious snacks and various types of tea. In the annex, a shop sells cute objects, books, tea-related things, Cath Kidston stuff, etc...The staff was very kind to let me take pictures to share with you, enjoy!

Hermès & Colette

Fiquei muito feliz em saber hoje que duas de minhas marcas francesas preferidas se uniram em um novo projeto. A Hermès lançou um novo site chamado "J'aime mon Carré" (algo como "eu amo meu lenço") para falar sobre seus lenços de seda e ensinar diversas maneiras de amarrá-los. A Colette vai fazer parte do evento de lançamento entre 27 de setembro e 16 de outubro em Paris, com uma coleção super colorida de edição limitada! Estou super ansiosa!!!

I was very happy to know today that two of my favourite French brands joined forces in a new project. Hermès launched a new website called "J'aime mon Carré" (something like "I love my scarf") to talk about their silk scarves and teach different ways to tie them. And Colette will be part of the launch event between September 27 and October 16 in Paris with a collection of colorful limited edition scarves! I'm super excited!

De Young Museum San Francisco

O museu de belas artes de São Francisco, o De Young Museum, está com uma série de exposicões imperdíveis! Com a reforma do Musée d'Orsay em Paris, mais de 100 obras impressionistas vieram para São Francisco para a primeira mostra "O Nascimento do Impressionismo", que fica em cartaz até o dia 6 de setembro de 2010. Eu pude ver esta exposição na minha recente passagem pela cidade, e embora já conhecia muitos dos quadros, é sempre maravilhoso estar em contato com obras tão marcantes. A segunda exibição será sobre os pós-impressionistas Van Gogh, Cézanne, Gaugin e outros, com mais 120 obras vindas de Paris e fica em cartaz do dia 25 de setembro até 18 de janeiro de 2011. Confesso que adoraria poder ver esta segunda parte também, mas o próprio site do museu dá uma pequena prévia dos quadros aqui para aqueles que não puderem comparecer. O De Young está de parabéns por realizar um feito tão importante em conjunto com o Musée d'Orsay.

The Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, the De Young Museum, has a series of unmissable exhibitions! With the Musee d'Orsay in Paris closing for renovations, more than 100 Impressionist works came to San Francisco for the first show "The Birth of Impressionism," which runs until September 6, 2010. I was able to see this exhibition during my recent visit to the city, and although I already knew many of the pictures, it's always wonderful to be in contact with such striking works. The next exhibition will be on the post-impressionists Van Gogh, Cezanne, Gauguin and others, with another 120 works from Paris and will be on display from September 25 until January 18, 2011. I confess I would love to see the second part as well, but the museum's own website gives a small preview here for those who cannot attend. Congratulations to the De Young for organizing such an important feat in conjunction with the Musée d'Orsay.

Soho Guide

Mais uma dica de NY: SOHO (Spring & Prince Streets).
Passear por estas ruas no Soho é muito divertido: lojas legais, gente estilosa e vitrines lindas. Desde as barraquinhas de rua até as lojas chiques como Chanel, esta região é ótima para observar tendências e reúne em poucos quarteirões um pouco de moda, cultura e gastronomia.
Another NY tip: spending the day in SOHO (Spring & Prince Streets). Walking about these streets in Soho is a lot of fun: cool shops, stylish people and beautiful store windows. From street stalls to chic shops like Chanel, this region is great for observing trends and gathers in a few blocks fashion, culture and gastronomy.

Não se espante com a entrada pichada e uma escada com luzes neon. A Kiosk é um recanto versátil com objetos divertidos do mundo inteiro como embalagens de bala vintage e livros de arte. Um achado para design addicts!
Do not be surprised with the grafitti entrance and stairway with neon lights. Kiosk is a versatile corner with fun objects from around the world like vintage packages of candy and art books. A real treat for design addicts!

A meca da culinária, esta deli é passagem obrigatória para gourmets e apreciadores de comida. Achei lindas estas embalagens de chocolate estampadas que encontrei lá.
The mecca of cooking, this deli is a mandatory stop for gourmets and food lovers. I found these beautiful printed chocolate packages there.

Sabón - 93 Spring Street
Estava admirando a vitrine desta charmosa boutique de sabonetes quando fui convidada por um simpático e atencioso vendedor para conhecer os produtos. Lavar as mãos na grande pia de pedra no interior da loja é um ritual de iniciação para os clientes, e conquista você na mesma hora! Os sabonetes, cremes e exfoliantes são incríveis, sem contar as embalagens!
I was admiring the window of this charming soap boutique when I was invited by a friendly and attentive salesperson to come inside. Washing your hands in the large stone basin in the interior of the store is a rite of passage for customers, and it really wins you over! The soaps, creams and exfoliants are incredible, not to mention the packaging!

Magnolia Bakery

Final de semana ensolarado em NY, e um dos passeios mais gostosos de fazer é andar pelo West Village, um bairro super descolado e cheio de cantinhos especiais. Um deles é a Magnolia Bakery, loja de cupcakes que sempre tem fila na porta. O lugar é pequenininho mas muito charmoso e os cupcakes são lindos e deliciosos. Fica a dica!

Sunny weekend in NY, and one of the most enjoyable thing to do is walk around the West Village, a neighborhood full of super cool and special corners. One of them is the Magnolia Bakery cupcake shop, that always has queues at the door. The place is tiny but very charming and the cupcakes are beautiful and delicious. That's my tip!

Achei esse livro por acaso vasculhando a parte de design da loja Urban Outfitters. Não sabia de sua existência, mas já havia ouvido falar muito sobre o nome Charles Saatchi, um dos colecionadores de arte contemporânea mais importantes da atualidade e fundador da Saatchi&Saatchi, que já foi considerada a maior agência de publicidade do mundo. No livro, o irreverente Saatchi responde a perguntas sobre arte, sua coleção e sua vida pessoal. A leitura é rápida e divertida, e desmistifica um pouco o cenário que envolve o meio da arte contemporânea.

I found this book by chance scanning the design section of an Urban Outfitters shop. I did not know of its existence, but had heard much about the name Charles Saatchi, one of the most important collectors of contemporary arts and founder of Saatchi & Saatchi, which was considered the largest advertising agency in the world. In the book, the irreverent Saatchi answers questions about art, his collection and his personal life. Reading is fun and fast, and demystifies a little the scenario involving the contemporary art world.

A Saatchi Gallery em Londres é uma das mais notáveis coleções particulares de arte moderna abertas ao público. Um dos maiores desejos de Charles Saatchi é a democratização da arte moderna atual para o grande público, e por isso, a entrada é gratuita. Eu conheci rapidamente e achei bem interessante! A galeria online também vale a visita! Artistas do mundo inteiro são convidados a compartilhar suas obras numa galeria virtual interativa gigantesca.

The Saatchi Gallery in London is one of the most remarkable private collections of modern art open to the public. One of the greatest desires of Charles Saatchi is the democratization of modern art to the general public, and therefore, admission is free. I went there quickly and I found it very interesting! The online gallery is also worth a visit! Artists worldwide are invited to share their works in a gigantic interactive virtual gallery.

Bergdorf Goodman 5th Ave

A Bergdorf Goodman é uma das lojas de departamento mais clássicas de NY. Com sua localização nobre na 5a avenida, não é preciso nem entrar na loja para sentir o glamour. As vitrines são decoradas todo mês, e cada uma é mais linda do que a outra. Estas fotos são das vitrines incríveis de junho que eu fotografei! O mais legal de tudo é que não é preciso viajar até NY para ver as lindas vitrines, a BG tem um blog super bacana que todo mês atualiza as fotos das vitrines atuais, clique aqui e veja!

Bergdorf Goodman is one of the most traditional department stores in NY. With its prime location on 5th Avenue, there is no need to enter the store to feel glamorous. The windows are decorated every month, and each one is more beautiful than the other. These photos are from the amazing June windows I photographed! The greatest thing is that you don't need to travel to NY to get a glimpse of the beautiful windows, BG has a super cool blog that updates every month photos of current displays, click here and see!
